TeachUNITED is successfully tackling the learning crisis by investing in teachers, one of the most powerful levers for addressing inequities in education and, ultimately, poverty. Research shows that teacher quality is the single biggest school-related factor in student success in school and beyond.

Coaching

By including coaching throughout the school year, the skills are embedded and sustained. A high quality workshop typically results in 10-15% of skills transferred to practice. Workshop plus coaching increases the skill transfer rate to almost 85%. (Sanders & Rivers 1996)

Pedagogy

Participants are trained and coached in research-based strategies that are proven to close learning gaps of 2-3 years in a single year. These strategies are pedagogy-based to tangibly shift educator practices and have the highest effect on student success. (Visible Learning, 2022)

Long-term Commitment

While other programs offer a one day, or one week training, with minimal or no follow-up, our program lasts a minimum of 6 months, and includes small group activities, personalized 1:1 coaching hours, and continual touch points so teachers internalize new skills. Consistent, long-term, follow-up ensures educators practice, refine, and embed new skills in the classroom leading to real, sustained transformation. As a result, our impact is both immediate and enduring.

Local NGO’s are the experts in their communities. TeachUNITED is an expert in educator training. Working together, we prepare NGO staff to coach educators in their school network on more effective teaching strategies to ensure every child has access to high-quality education.

  • Gain familiarity to Monitoring and Evaluation processes; understand how data informs teaching and learning; learn how to measure impact of coaching.
  • Help educators design, create, and evaluate lessons for engagement and impact.

TeachUNITED recently launched an M&E mentorship program for our local, community-based NGOs. This program is intended to help partners measure the impact of TeachUNITED’s training and plan for continued impact assessment in the future.

TeachUNITED:

  • Guides the development of M&E frameworks and systems during our coaching program implementation with partners.
  • Provides “off-ramp” instructions for partners to take over the M&E plans and systems upon completion of the program

 Partner NGOs:

  • Build the skills and confidence necessary to continue the data collection processes even as they complete program implementation with TU and move into Alumni status.
